Due to their balanced nutrient profile and low fat content, white isopods (Trichorhina tomentosa) are an excellent natural food source for small reptiles, amphibians, and young birds. They are particularly suitable for ground-dwelling species and juveniles, as they are easily digestible and rich in valuable minerals. As part of the microfauna, they can also contribute to the biological cleaning of the terrarium by consuming organic debris.
White isopods can be introduced directly into the terrarium, preferably in moist areas with sufficient hiding places. They will reproduce there independently, providing a continuous, live food source. Adding vegetables, leaves, and other organic materials promotes their population and nutritional value. Targeted removal and feeding are possible by carefully collecting the animals from the substrate.
