The crested gecko is an extraordinary lizard species originally from New Caledonia. Due to its unique appearance and uncomplicated nature, it is very popular among terrarium enthusiasts. Crested geckos are native to the islands of New Caledonia in the South Pacific.

Adult animals reach a length of about 20 to 25 cm, with the tail accounting for approximately half of the total length. With good care, crested geckos can live for about 15 to 20 years. They are nocturnal and usually spend the day hidden in plants or crevices.
