A "Leatherback Bearded Dragon" is a breeding form that, due to a genetic mutation, has a greatly reduced or absent number of spikes. These bearded dragons have a smooth back and hardly any spikes on their body, but still have spikes on their sides and beard. The coloration of this morph is often more intense. They reach a head-body length of about 250 mm and a tail length of up to about 300 mm. They require species-appropriate housing with UV light, warmth, and a humidity level of 30–40% (up to 60% at night).
