Due to their low fat and moderate protein content, springtails are excellent food for very small reptiles, amphibian larvae, juvenile fish, or as a supplement for ground-dwelling terrarium inhabitants. They are easily digestible and, through their constant movement, encourage natural foraging and hunting instincts, especially in young animals.

Springtails can be placed directly on the terrarium substrate. They colonize moist substrates and thus serve as a continuous living food source, ideal for dart frogs or young geckos, for example. To optimize their nutritional value, it is recommended to regularly feed the feeder cultures with nutrient-rich food such as vegetables or yeast. The population in the terrarium usually self-regulates, but the substrate should be regularly checked and replaced if necessary to prevent mold growth and odors.
